Shopify automatically optimizes images, loads scripts asynchronously and offers built-in browser caching. As a user, you hardly need to worry about performance optimization. The downside: too many installed apps can slow down your store, because each app adds scripts to your page.

WooCommerce: depends on your setup

The performance of a WooCommerce site varies enormously. On cheap shared hosting ($5/mo), your TTFB can rise to 1–3 seconds. On managed hosting like Cloudways or Kinsta ($30–100/mo), you achieve TTFB values of 100–300ms — faster than Shopify. The key is in the technical configuration.
